Roy Jones Jr knows Chris Eubank Jr. as well as anyone and has now given his prediction for the rematch with Conor Benn this weekend.
American boxing legend and multi-weight champion Jones trained Eubank Jr back in 2020 during successful fights with Marcus Morrison and Liam Williams before Eubank took his first KO loss to Liam Smith in 2022.
He hooked up with Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre for the rematch and won six months later and then beat Benn on points in their first match back in April.
Speaking to TalkBet ahead of the generational rivals going at it again, Jones sided with his old charge on account of his fitness and size.
“The winner is the one who makes the better adjustments. Eubank needs to not headhunt so much, go to the body a little bit more, stay disciplined to the body of the attack, and eventually he’d get him out.
“I think Chris’s greatest strength is his engine. Chris has a really good engine, and people don’t realise that Chris has an ability to very rarely get tired or fatigued.
“I think Eubank’s gonna win, I think he’s gonna try for the knockout, which also makes him more susceptible to being knocked out, but I think with the size difference it’s gonna be okay as long as he doesn’t go about it in a reckless way.”
Another win for Eubank would put this rivalry behind him and he could look to go on to big fights with the likes of Terence Crawford or Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, whom he has often spoken about in the past.
