Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson are arguably the two best fighters in the world at 135lbs.
Davis is the current WBA lightweight champion, with an undefeated record of 30-0. An incredible 28 of those wins have come by knockout, with ‘Tank’ widely regarded as one of the pound-for-pound hardest hitters on the planet.
His power has seen fighters such as Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Rolly Romero and Frank Martin all stopped inside the distance, with Isaac Cruz the only man to go the full 12 rounds against Davis in a world title fight.
As for Stevenson, he is the current WBC lightweight champion, and holds an unbeaten professional record of 22-0 after making his debut back in 2017.
While Davis is more known for his power, Stevenson is highly-rated for his boxing ability, claiming dominant wins against fighters such as Oscar Valdez, Jamel Herring, and most recently Artem Harutyunyan.
Many fans continue to debate who is the better out of the two, but boxing legend Roy Jones Jr has made his mind up in the following clip, as he explains just why he sees Davis as the best.
“I’ll tell you why he’s the best fighter to me. He can punch, but he also can box. Some that can box can’t punch, some that can punch can’t box.
He can box, he can punch, he can move laterally, he can move left side, right side, he can do whatever he needs to do as a southpaw to get the job done. That’s saying a lot as not many guys can do that today.”
Jones Jr isn’t the only boxing figure to compare Davis and Stevenson, with Teddy Atlas also offering his prediction for how a fight between the two men would go.
