Four weight world champion Roy Jones Jr has shared his thoughts on whether he believes heavyweight icon Muhammad Ali is the greatest fighter ever.
Ali is widely considered to be not only the greatest heavyweight in boxing history, but also one of the greatest fighters to have ever laced up a pair of gloves.
The Kentucky-native captured the world heavyweight championship on three separate occasions throughout the course of his 21-year professional career, racking up a number of legacy-defining victories over the likes of Ken Norton, Joe Frazier and George Foreman.
Another American fighter that took the sport by storm during his own tenure is Hall of Fame inductee Jones, who is also regarded as being one of the greatest fighters of all time by fans and analysts alike, thanks to his remarkable accolades which include claiming world honours at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
Speaking on Jay Midnyte, Jones was asked to share his verdict on who he believes is the ‘GOAT’, naming none other than countryman Ali.
“The greatest fighter of all time, the greatest athlete of all time in my book, always is going to be Muhammad Ali. It ain’t what I think, it’s what I know.”
Whilst he is commended for his outstanding boxing ability and unique fighting style, Ali is also known to have changed the landscape of the sport on a number of occasions throughout the course of his career, inspiring generation after generation of young fighters who all aspired to be just like him.
