Roy Jones Jr has shared his verdict on whether Jake Paul can go on to win a world title.
Paul dominated the contest from the opening bell, going on to be declared the winner via unanimous decision to pick up his 12th professional victory since making his debut back in 2020.
Chavez has received criticism for what was an underwhelming performance against the former YouTube star, who has once again expressed his intentions to fight for a legitimate world title at the earliest possible opportunity.
In an interview with ESNEWS, former pound-for-pound king Jones Jr was asked to reveal how many victories Paul could be from fighting for a legitimate world championship, as he backs ‘The Problem Child’ to achieve his career-long dream.
“Two, I think he could do it.”
Just moments after he was declared the winner against Chavez, Paul – who has since been placed at number 14 in the WBA cruiserweight rankings – made a series of call-outs where he targeted a showdown with either WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez or WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack.
The 28-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio has also expressed an interest in facing two-time unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and reigning WBA world lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
It has been speculated over the last few months that Paul and Davis had been in negotiations for an exhibition bout which could happen before the end of the year, although it remains to be seen whether this will come to fruition.
