Hall of Fame inductee Roy Jones Jr has branded an unbeaten two-weight world champion as unbeatable.

Jones had an exceptional professional boxing career of his own, winning world titles in four weight classes following his success at the 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Seoul, which he walked away from with a Light Middleweight Gold Medal.

He rose to prominence as a pro during the 1990s, winning belts at middleweight, super-middleweight and light-heavyweight whilst racking up victories over the likes of James Toney, Mike McCallum and Bernard Hopkins.

Perhaps the most famous victory of his career came in March of 2003 when he moved up to heavyweight, defeating WBA world champion John Ruiz via unanimous decision at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

In an interview with The Ring Magazine, Jones gave praise to current heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, as he admits he believes there is ‘nobody’ capable of beating the Ukrainian icon.

“I don’t see anyone beating him at this point. But the most likely suspect is Joseph Parker. It’s the only fight that is a little bit of a challenge because Parker has boxing skills, hand speed, he knows how to manoeuvre like a small man, and has trainer Andy Lee, who knows what he is doing as well.”

Usyk captured the undisputed heavyweight championship for the second time back in July when he stopped Britain’s Daniel Dubois in the 5th round of their historic clash at Wembley Stadium.

The 38-year-old previously held the undisputed championship at cruiserweight, achieving this feat back in 2018 when he defeated Russia’s Murat Gassiev in the final of the World Boxing Super Series.

With his own place in the Hall of Fame secured, the Ukrainian is currently plotting his next move in the sport. Joseph Parker, as Jones mentioned, is the first in line for a shot, though he puts that position on the line against Fabio Wardley later this month. Many feel that Usyk will vacate the belts rather than face mandatories.
