Generational great Oleksandr Usyk is plotting how the final stages of his career will go and Roy Jones Jr has named who he thinks he should face rather than rematching Daniel Dubois.
The first fight with Dubois was in 2023. Usyk won by stoppage in the ninth round, but not before being down for several minutes after a shot which was judged to have been a low blow.
Since then, Dubois has found top form and become IBF world champion while Usyk, who vacated the belt for the Brit to pick it up, has twice defeated Tyson Fury.
Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, former multi-weight world champion Jones was asked who he would like to see Usyk fight in his last two contests.
“Joseph Parker would be a great fight for Usyk, and I don’t know, maybe ‘AJ’ for a third time, maybe see if ‘AJ’ can change it up a bit and put it on him. There are several people but those are my top two.”
For his part, the Ukrainian has stated his intention to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, which means a fight with current IBF strap holder Dubois will be high up the list.
Though his mandatory challenger has been named as Joseph Parker, recent reports suggest that the WBO will allow the four-belt clash with Dubois to take precedence, and it is now close to being finalised.
