Roy Jones Jr feels that Gervonta Davis may have to watch out for a recently crowned world champion.
Jones Jr is one of the most respected voices in boxing, having had an illustrious career that saw him become a multi-weight world champion and one of the pound-for-pound best during his era.
The boxing legend has now looked over the current boxing landscape, which includes the future of reigning WBA lightweight champion Davis.
‘Tank’ is back in action next month when he defends his title against Lamont Roach, but Jones Jr feels there is another champion that Davis should be worried about.
That man is Keyshawn Davis, the new WBO lightweight champion after he knocked out Denys Berinchyk inside four rounds to capture the title over the weekend.
It saw Davis become world champion in just his 13th professional fight, with many boxing experts tipping the 25-year-old to be a serious threat for many years to come at 135lbs.
Jones Jr was in attendance for the fight, and gave a confident answer when asked by Fighthype just whether Keyshawn could be a problem for ‘Tank.’
“Not just Tank. He’s a problem for everybody. Trust me, believe it. He raised his stock. I knew what he was already. You can tell from his amateur experience.
“He was a problem already. You just have to know boxing to understand what he really was. He proved he’s exactly what we think he is.”
Keyshawn has already made his thoughts clear on how he thinks a fight against ‘Tank’ would go, sending out a defiant warning to his countryman following his win on Friday.
