Ryan Garcia‘s win over Devin Haney – in which he scored three knockdowns – has been tainted by the news of failed doping tests for the banned substance Ostarine.
Garcia entered the ring a heavy underdog, three pounds overweight so unable to win Haney’s WBC Super-Lightweight Title and after a chaotic fight week left many questioning his mental wellbeing.
He won the April 20 fight via majority decision and immediately commenced a victory lap that appears to be continuing to this day, that is despite news one week on that he had tested positive for Ostarine – an anabolic agent seen as a safer alternative to steroids – on the day before and after the fight.
The 25-year-old immediately denied wrongdoing and cried corruption, even claiming Haney’s side had tampered with the tests. He requested his B-sample be analysed and Dan Rafael now reports that the substance has been found once more, as was expected to be the case.
BREAKING: Ryan Garcia’s B sample results were returned Thursday a.m., 1 day after being opened. I have the lab reports & the B samples, as expected, matched A samples — both are positive for the banned PED Ostarine related to VADA tests the day before & after Haney fight. #boxing

It is now down to the New York State Athletic Commission to take action. Garcia will be given the right to explain the substance in his system, provide evidence of contamination or continue to claim complete innocence.
