Ryan Garcia Called Out By Unbeaten Prodigy With 82% Knockout Ratio

A hard-hitting American contender is targeting a future clash with newly-crowned world champion Ryan Garcia.

Garcia made his long-awaited return to the ring back in February when he defeated Mario Barrios via unanimous decision to capture the WBC world welterweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

‘King Ryan’ floored Barrios in the opening few seconds of their showdown before cruising to a wide points victory to achieve his career-long dream of winning the coveted WBC title and putting an end to what was a frustrating 18 months.

With rumours already circulating about what could be next for Garcia, the 27-year-old from California appears to be on the radar of the highly-rated Emiliano Vargas, son of two-time world champion Fernando Vargas.

Speaking on the Mr. Verzace Podcast, Vargas revealed that he would ‘love’ to get the opportunity to fight Garcia in the future but admits that he is in no rush and everything will happen in ‘due time’.

“I mean, look, he’s a great champion, he’s a great fighter, but at the end of the day that’s a fight that I would love to fight. I think the fans would be all over it and everything in due time, I mean, he just became a world champion at 27 years of age so I’d expect him to become world champion at 27, you know. But, I’m on my way.

“Obviously what I’m doing bothers people, not just him but other champions. I think he’s a great fighter, I think that’d be a great fight but you know, there’s something that every time my name gets mentioned around him, he feels some type of way you know?”

Vargas was last in action back in February when he stopped Agustin Quintana in the penultimate round of their 10-round clash at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The 21-year-old is set to return to the ring this summer, with reports suggesting that he is in line to face former unified world lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr next.
