Ryan Garcia was stopped by Gervonta Davis inside seven rounds, failing to stand for the referee’s count after a sneaky body shot put him down.

It was the second time Garcia was dropped in the fight after hitting the canvas from a headshot in the second round. Despite the comprehensive loss, the 26-year-old has always maintained that he would find a rematch without the same weight restrictions ‘easy.’

‘Tank’ is one of the most prolific knockout artists in the sport, having been the distance just three times in 30 fights. However, Garcia has said that his stoppages are all about ‘accuracy’ and that the shots he saw coming ‘didn’t hurt at all.’

He has, however, praised other opponents as packing a serious punch, namely Romero Duno – who he beat in the first round – and Oscar Duarte – an eighth round stoppage win. Speaking to TalkSPORT, Garcia named those two fighters as the hardest hitters he has faced.

“That’s probably Romero Duno. Even though I knocked him out in a minute, when he touched my back it felt like I was getting hit by a rock.

“And then Oscar Duarte, he hit hard. He had hands of stone, that s*** hurt. So those are the two hardest punchers that I remember.”

Garcia’s most recent bout was at first a points win over Devin Haney in which he dropped the champion three times. It was later overturned to a no contest due to a failed doping test on Garcia’s part. With a rematch looming later in the year provided both can get wins on May 2, Garcia has even said ‘The Dream’ – who has a less than 50% KO ratio – caught him better than ‘Tank’ did.

“Haney caught me, Gervonta I didn’t really [feel anything]. It wasn’t a hard fight I was just weak.”
