Ryan Garcia remains keen on a rematch against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.

The 26-year-old from Los Angeles, California suffered the first defeat of his professional career when he was stopped in the seventh round of his 2023 showdown with ‘Tank’ Davis.

Despite the best efforts of ‘King Ry’, the ferocity and thunderous punching power of Davis proved to be simply too much for the former WBC ‘Interim’ lightweight champion.

A rematch between the pair has been speculated for quite some time, with both fighters said to be interest in locking horns for the second time and reigniting their intense rivalry, although Garcia believes a second bout is unlikely to happen.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Garcia admitted that he would ‘love’ to fight ‘Tank’ for the second time but claims he would only go through with it on an ‘even playing ground’.

“At the end of the day I would love a rematch, I would love to do it on more even playing grounds and let’s run it back, I would love to do it.”

‘King Ry’ was then asked if he believes Davis would make the move up to 147lbs to allow a rematch to happen, and said no.

“I don’t think he’s that type of dude that would wanna do that, to me it excites me to fight these guys, I’m excited to see how these guys can hold up to what I got.”

Garcia – who has made it clear that he can’t drop back down in weight – returns to the ring on May 2 when he faces Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero for the regular version of the WBA welterweight title at the iconic Times Square in the heart of New York City.

As for ‘Tank,’ he is coming off the back of a controversial draw with Lamont Roach Jr, keeping hold of his WBA Lightweight World Title in the process but now heading towards an immediate rematch.
