Ryan Garcia Leaks Devin Haney PPV Buys After De La Hoya Said Haney ‘Can’t Sell’

The Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia fight continues to be talked about for all the wrong reasons.

What was an intriguing super-lightweight title clash fell at the first hurdle when Garcia failed to make the weight limit. The fight would go ahead but he was ineligible to win Haney’s WBC World title.

Garcia then upset the odds massively by dropping Haney three times on the way to a majority decision, but it was later revealed that he had tested positive twice – once the day before and once the day of the fight – for banned substance Ostarine.

The New York State Athletic Commission ruled later ruled the bout a No Contest, banned Garcia for one year, fined him and made him return his contracted purse, which would be nowhere near his real earnings, to Golden Boy Promotions.

Haney has celebrated the ruling but criticised the idea of Oscar De La Hoya‘s company getting the money back when he has claimed he isn’t in receipt of his full payment yet.

In response, De La Hoya said everything had been followed according to the contract and that Haney ‘just does not sell.’

“You’re pathetic … Nobody’s gonna forget about that beating you took. Bro, you just do not sell – that’s the bottom line. You can audit my company anytime you want.”

Garcia has now taken to social media to reveal that the fight, broadcast on DAZN PPV, reached 400-500 thousand buys on box office. If the numbers are correct, it outperformed Gervonta Davis‘ recent defence against Frank Martin, reported by Dan Rafael to have secured 325 to 350 thousand buys.

Garcia and ‘Tank’ Davis’ fight last year was said to have surpassed one million on pay-per-view, leading to an argument as to whose star power was contributing more. De La Hoya stands firm that Garcia is ‘the face of boxing.’
