Ryan Garcia has shared his thoughts on the impending showdown between former rival Devin Haney and Brian Norman Jr.
Former undisputed lightweight champion Haney is set to make the move up to 147lbs to challenge Norman for his WBO world welterweight title at the ANB Arena in Riyadh tonight.
‘The Dream’ was last in action back in May when he comprehensively outpointed former unified super-lightweight champion Jose Ramirez at Times Square in New York City, though his performance was criticised for lack of entertainment value and playing it too safe.
Norman last appeared on June 19 when he produced a sensational fifth round stoppage victory over Japan’s Jin Sasaki to successfully defend his WBO world title for the second time.
Former WBC ‘interim’ lightweight champion Garcia, who shared the ring with Haney back in April 2024, has spoken out and shared his final verdict on the upcoming clash between ‘The Dream’ and Norman.
In a recent social media post, Garcia – who dropped Haney three times on his way to a points victory which was later overturned when he tested positive for a banned substance – admitted that he is ‘confident’ that Haney will be victorious over Norman as he sets his sights on becoming a three-weight world champion.
“I’, confident that Devin Haney wins!! … Reasoning is simple – [experience] and I feel he will figure it out … It’s not about speed or power in this … I think Devin just frustrates Norman … Norman can very much prove me wrong we will see.”

Whilst it is no secret that Norman carries thunderous punching power, Haney will believe that he can outbox the young champion and prove his doubters wrong after what has been a frustrating 18-months for ‘The Dream’.
