A lightweight unification match-up between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson is one of the best fights to be made in the sport of boxing.
The clash – which would see Davis bring the WBA belt to the table and Shakur the WBC – offers a fascinating clash of styles.
Davis is rated as pound-for-pound one of biggest punchers in the game having amassed 28 knockouts from his 30 victories and has yet to tase defeat.
Stevenson, also undefeated, is unquestionably one of the most skilled fighters in the sport but his defensive first style has lead to fan criticism, particularly in his last two fights.
When asked by Cigar Talk if Shakur would be his toughest opponent, ‘Tank’ strongly refuted that suggestion and pointed to their previous sparring sessions as an indication of how the fight would go.
“Hell no that’s not my hardest fight. Why would it be? Show me something that he did spectacular, show me something that he did outrageous, show me. His power is not outrageous.
What defence? He just jumps back, you never see him slip no punches you just see him back up from a lot of people, back up, move around, move around, he ain’t got no technique.
Easy work, I touched him with 16 ounce gloves on and he ran, imagine if I hit him with 8 ounce gloves.”
Former Davis opponent, Ryan Garcia, who is currently serving a ban after a positive test for his fight against Devin Haney, has no doubt that ‘Tank’ would beat his lightweight rival.

Garcia was knocked out with a body shot by ‘Tank’ last year but has complained that the rehydration clause put in place seriously hindered his performance.
The Davis-Stevenson fight moved a step closer when 135lb IBF champion Vasiliy Lomachenko pulled out of negotiations to face Davis, claiming he wasn’t ready to return to the ring this year.
