Ryan Garcia Vows To KO World Champion When They Finally Fight: “I’ve Wanted Him For A Long Time”

Ryan Garcia has vowed to knock out a reigning world champion in dramatic fashion when they inevitably clash.

The 26-year-old from Los Angeles, California is due to begin preparations for his return to the ring after suffering the second defeat of his career earlier this year.

Garcia was beaten by fellow countryman Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero at Times Square in New York City on May 2, falling short in his attempt at becoming the WBA ‘regular’ world welterweight champion after putting on a disappointing performance.

It was confirmed shortly after his loss to ‘Rolly’ that Garcia was to undergo surgery on his right hand after sustaining an injury in the lead up to the fight, which is said to have been successful and will not keep him out of action for any longer than what is required.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Garcia welcomed a potential showdown with reigning WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, hinting that he would defeat the 28-year-old via stoppage should they go on to face each other.

“If he wants to run it, he can get it. I’ve always liked that fight for myself. Our styles go well together. I seriously believe I would knock him out with my punch selection and output. With the way I throw punches, I would crack him. I’m definitely his kryptonite. I’ve been wanting that fight for a long time. I’m open to any challenge.”

Lopez made the most recent defence of his WBO on the undercard of Garcia’s defeat to ‘Rolly’ back in May, outpointing mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr in what was an impressive performance.

Aside from a potential clash with Garcia, ‘The Takeover’ has welcomed a showdown with reigning WBC world lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, after the duo went back and forth on social media recently.
