Shakur Stevenson’s next opponent appears to be confirmed as he prepares to make the move up to a new weight class.
The 28-year-old from Newark, New Jersey currently holds the WBC world lightweight title with his most recent defence coming against Mexico’s William Zepeda at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York on July 12.
Stevenson put on arguably the best performance of his professional career to date against the previously unbeaten Mexican, defeating him via unanimous decision to defend his WBC crown for the third consecutive time.
Reports have now began to circulate about Stevenson potentially making the move up to 140lbs next to challenge fellow countryman and reigning WBO world super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, as he sets his sights on becoming a four-division world champion.
Responding to Lopez declaring the fight was on in a recent social media post, Stevenson claimed that the winner of the clash would be recognised as the best vs the best.
“All Facts The Best vs The Best. Winner is King.”
Lopez made the latest defence of his WBO crown earlier this year when he defeated mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr via unanimous decision at the iconic Times Square in New York City on May 2.
