Three-weight world champion Shakur Stevenson has revealed who he believes are the five best active fighters on the planet.

The 28-year-old from Newark has established himself as one of the highest-rated fighters in boxing over the last couple of years, remaining unbeaten as a professional since making his debut in 2017.

Stevenson has already captured world honours at featherweight, super-featherweight and lightweight during his career to date, producing wins over the likes of Oscar Valdez, Jamel Herring and William Zepeda along the way.

He is set to make his long-awaited return to the ring this weekend when he challenges countryman Teofimo Lopez for the WBO super-lightweight title at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

In a recent feature with DAZN Boxing, Stevenson revealed his current pound-for-pound top five where he surprisingly names Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford in the top spot, who has recently announced his retirement from boxing.

“My top five pound-for-pound fighters in the world right now are Terence Crawford, [Oleksandr] Usyk, [Dmitry] Bivol, [Naoya] Inoue and me.”

‘Bud’ Crawford drew the curtain on his career back in December, just a few months on from his monumental victory over Canelo Alvarez where he became the undisputed super-middleweight champion.

The choices of Usyk, Inoue and Bivol come as no surprise, with the trio having each become undisputed in their respective weight classes over the last few years.

Stevenson will have his sights set on potentially writing his own name into the boxing history books in the very same way as the aforementioned fighters have done during their glittering professional careers.
