Shakur Stevenson will make the first defence of his WBC Lightweight World Title this weekend against Artem Harutyunyan

Should he win, the 27-year-old is fully focused on facing the other champions in his division and the top challenges in general. In an interview with Deep Cut, Stevenson named the top four best in his weight class.

Shakur Stevenson

“Am I in the ranking?” Stevenson asked, “Oh, I’m number one. There is no question. Number one.” Now champion in his third division with some of the best defensive skills in the sport, fans will find it hard to argue him at least being around the top spot.

Gervonta Davis

Stevenson’s pick for number two, Gervonta Davis. is undoubtedly the money-man in the division as well as being its most explosive puncher. Fresh off his first WBA title defence against Frank Martin, ‘Tank’s stock is as high as ever. Next up, he’s expected to face…

Vasiliy Lomachenko

The Ukrainian elite may still look small for the weight, but he was close to becoming undisputed last year when he lost a razor-thing decision to Devin Haney. Not with the IBF belt on his shoulder following a win over George Kambosos Jr, Vasiliy Lomachenko expected to have one last crack at collecting all four titles before retirement.

Edwin De Los Santos

Stevenson said it would be called a ‘wild pick’ putting his latest opponent in at number four. He said “they don’t realise how good he is. He’s a good fighter, he just went against me.” The Newark native’s reputation took a hit with a negative showing against De Los Santos, despite winning the WBC belt in the process. Stevenson has said he was injured going into the fight, but still needs to perform this weekend against Harutyunyan to make sure fans want to tune in in future.
