Shane Mosley Names His Most Satisfying Victory

Hall of Fame great Shane Mosley has revealed the most satisfying victory of his decorated professional boxing career.

Despite suffering ten defeats during his tenure, ‘Sugar Shane’ became one of the best active fighters on the planet during the early 2000s, holding world honours in three weight classes.

Mosley produced a number of career-defining wins at the height of his career, defeating the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Antonio Margarito, Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga amongst a number of others.

After he was beaten by former WBA ‘regular’ welterweight champion David Avanesyan just shy of ten years ago, Mosley announced his third and final retirement from the sport with a record of 49 wins, 10 losses and 1 draw.

He briefly became a trainer and would work alongside former Youtube sensation Jake Paul during the earlier stages of his professional career.

In a resurfaced interview with Bloody Knockout, Mosley named his first victory over De La Hoya as the most satisfying of his entire career.

“The first fight with Oscar. Everybody was there. They got the chance to witness greatness.”

De La Hoya had suffered just one defeat when he faced Mosley for the first time but ‘Sugar Shane’ proved to be too much for the future Hall of Famer in what is widely considered to be one of the best wins of that era.

Mosley crossed paths with ‘The Golden Boy’ for the second time in September 2003 and produced yet another memorable victory of his countryman to become the unified WBC and WBA world light-middleweight champion.
