Shane Mosley Names The Hardest Puncher He Faced After Fighting Pacquiao, De La Hoya And Canelo

Shane Mosley has named the hardest puncher he faced during his glittering career.

Mosley held world titles across three weight classes during his time inside the ring, which spanned 23 years between 1993 and 2016. He also became a lineal champion on three occasions, twice at welterweight and once at light-middleweight.

The majority of his success came during the late 1990s and early 2000s, where he defeated Oscar De La Hoya on two occasions. The first defeat of his tenure didn’t come until he faced Vernon Forrest, who outpointed him for his WBC welterweight title.

After facing the likes of De La Hoya, along with Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez and Fernando Vargas, ‘Sugar’ Shane has revealed the one fighter who hit him harder than the rest.

In a feature with The Ring Magazine, Mosley actually named Forrest as the biggest punching opponent he faced, as he claims he had ‘natural’ power.

“Vernon Forrest. I’m not sure why; maybe it was just natural. He just hit the hardest.”

The late, great Forrest had an outstanding amateur career, before moving onto the professional ranks where he would win world titles in the welterweight and super-welterweight divisions.

He defeated Mosley on two occasions in a six month period back in 2002, before also going on to beat the likes of Carlos Baldomir, Sergio Mora and Ike Quartey in the later stages of his career. He was tragically murdered at the age of 38-years-old in 2009, just one year after the 45th and final outing of his tenure.
