‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley shared twelve rounds with Manny Pacquiao.
The 46-year-old Filipino great is set to make an unprecedented comeback to the sport, doing battle with reigning WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas next month.
‘PacMan’ has not fought as a professional since he called time on his career back in 2021, just a few months after he suffered a shock points defeat to former WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas.
During the height of his glittering tenure, Pacquiao shared the ring with a number of generational greats, including three division champion Shane Mosley, who fell short in his attempt to dethrone ‘PacMan’ of his WBO welterweight crown when they locked horns back in May of 2011.
Ahead of Pacquiao’s impending comeback, Mosley gave an honest assessment of the 46-year-old’s punching power in an interview with ESNEWS, where he admits the Filipino icon’s punches were some of the hardest he has ever felt.
“It was the way he threw the punch and how it felt. It didn’t feel hard, it felt like a snapping punch. When I went down it seemed like it could’ve been a flash knockdown, but when I got up I felt the effects, feeling a little dizzy. I thought wow that’s interesting that this little guy hits me with a left hand that I seen coming and I go down.
“I’ve been in with heavyweights, light-heavyweights, anybody, you see when I fought Canelo after that fight. Canelo hit me with everything in the book he could and I’m still walking him down, still going forward. And Pacquiao hits me with a little straight left hand and I felt a little weak.”
