Shannon Briggs Delivers Honest Verdict On Tyson Fury’s Return After A Year Out

Tyson Fury is set to return to action this spring, and Shannon Briggs has been talking about what he expects.

Fury has been in and out of the sport several times over the course of his career. He has often managed to come back well despite long layoffs and in one case, after gaining and then losing a huge amount of weight.

This time, at 38, fans suspect it might be his last throw of the dice to get back to the very top and win world title belts before having to walk away for good.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Briggs said he was excited about seeing Fury take on Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

“Yeah it’s a great fight, man. I’m looking forward to seeing him back in action. He retires every other day so we gotta see what he does but he’s looking good, focused, and I’ve been watching his Instagram and I’m impressed. He looks good on his feet.”

He was then asked about Fury saying he will be reverting to his sharp, light, agile style rather than going in for brutal wars as he had with Wilder.

“He’s gonna have to, I think that works for him and it works for me too. When you get older, it gives you a bit of momentum when you’re moving forward.”

Fury was last out in December 2024 when he was beaten on points by Oleksandr Usyk, while Makhmudov beat Allen after 12 tough rounds late last year, so ‘The Gypsy King’ is sure to be tested properly on his return.
