George Foreman and Anthony Joshua will always be two of the heavyweight division’s more storied names.
Foreman is a two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist who also holds the record of being the oldest man to ever win the world heavyweight boxing championship when he did so at 45 years old.
He beat the likes of the then-undefeated Joe Frazier in 1973, but a year later took his first loss to Muhammad Ali in the iconic Rumble in the Jungle.
Joshua meanwhile is still fighting to secure his legacy in the sport. He has been a two-time world champion and goes for a third shot at glory when he takes on fellow Brit Daniel Dubois in September for the IBF belt in London. Should he win that, he will once again be making a claim to be one of the standout boxers of the current era.
In a recently resurfaced clip when speaking to Sway’s Universe, former WBO world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs was asked to predict Joshua versus Foreman, a man he fought on November 22, 1997 in Atlantic City and contentiously beat by majority decision with many feeling ‘Big George’ had done enough to get the win.
“George all the way, champ.
Prime George, ain’t nobody messing with prime George, man, nobody, except The greatest of all time, Ali, you feel me, nobody messes with George in his prime.”
