Shawn Porter has shared his thoughts on Manny Pacquiao‘s return to the ring on Saturday night.
Pacquiao put on an impressive display against ‘El Azteca’ in what was his first ring appearance as a professional in four years, although he ultimately fell short as the fight was declared a majority decision draw.
Two out of the three judges at ringside scored the contest 114-114 even, whilst the other scored it 115-113 in favour of defending champion Barrios.
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, two-time welterweight champion Porter gave an honest assessment of the bout as he admits he believes Pacquiao should have been declared the winner.
“No I didn’t agree with the draw, I thought Manny won, thought he won hands down. I thought the activity was just hard to give Mario rounds you know, I thought it was hard to give Mario rounds … No body work for Mario, he wasn’t consistently going to the body and I thought he left a lot in the ring, he left a lot in the corner.”
Pacquiao has already announced that he will continue his boxing career after it was speculated that the Filipino legend could go back into retirement.
The 46-year-old’s trainer Freddie Roach spoke in the post-fight press conference and confirmed that they would be interested in a potential rematch with Barrios, although it remains to be seen whether this will come to fruition next.
