Shawn Porter has shared the ring with Terence Crawford so knows better than most what is in store for Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez when the two come to blows.

Porter is a former welterweight world champion who took on Crawford back in November 2021. He put on an impressive showing in the early rounds but was eventually caught up with and stopped in the 10th. It would be ‘Showtime’s final bout.

Since then, Crawford added the undisputed welterweight title to his honours list on top of the undisputed super-lightweight crown he had already achieved. He then moved up to 154lbs and became world champion in that division at the first time of asking. All roads lead to super-middleweight next for a mega-fight with Canelo.

The unified super-middleweight ruler from Guadalajara, Mexico has only lost to Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol and has never been knocked down or stopped in 66-fight campaign.

Speaking to talkSPORT boxing, Porter was asked about Crawford making the two-division jump and had high praise for his former opponent. He said, ‘he can beat Canelo’ whilst explaining why.

“[Crawford] is as good as you think he is. I’ll tell you what separates him from everybody, he has it physically, he puts in the work, he has all that, he has all the added component of being the strongest and most courageous man I’ve ever been in the ring with. He’s the most competitive man I know.

“I do believe he can beat Canelo. I think it’s perfect timing for both of them. I think Canelo has enough miles on the clock that he could break down over 8-10 rounds and it could be Terence’s fight.”

This much anticipated super-fight is set to take place in Las Vegas in September. First up, Canelo faces William Scull in MAy in a bid to become two-time undisputed ion the division.
