Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Shakur Stevenson are two of the best lightweight fighters on the planet.

Davis is a three-weight world champion and the current WBA lightweight champion, with his undefeated 30-0 record including an incredible 28 knockouts.

He has stopped the likes of Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Frank Martin and Rolly Romero in his career, and makes the latest defence of his belt when he faces Lamont Roach in Houston, Texas in December.

Stevenson is also unbeaten, with a record of 22-0, and is the reigning WBC lightweight champion. He has also held world honours at 126lbs and 130lbs, making him a three-weight world champion just like ‘Tank.’

Former welterweight champion Shawn Porter has now named the fighter who he believes is a combination of both Davis and Stevenson, heaping praise on a young prospect whilst speaking to 210BoxingTV.

“Abdullah Mason. He’s the next thing without a doubt. He’s got the reflexes and tuition of Shakur Stevenson, but he also has the flash and the offence of a Tank Davis. He’s a hybrid of those guys.

“When people talk about Tank they always talk about the power, but he’s extremely smart and loves his boxing so he puts his all into it. Mason is 135lbs, 20 years old, he is the next truth.”

Mason is undefeated at 15-0, with 13 of those wins coming by knockout, and at just 20-years-old, he looks like he could have an extremely bright future in the sport.

The southpaw from Ohio is coming off a stoppage of Mike Ohan Jr and will return in November against Yohan Vasquez, marking his fifth contest of 2024.
