Claressa Shields has revealed the one fighter that she believes will get the better of three-weight world champion Gervonta Davis.
Baltimore-native Davis is set to make his return to the ring next month as he gears up to face Youtuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul in a ten round exhibition clash at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday November 14.
The 30-year-old last fought back in March, fighting to a majority decision draw against countryman Lamont Roach Jr in what was the second defence of his WBA world lightweight title, although many fans and analysts believe Roach had done enough to hand ‘Tank’ the first defeat of his career.
As he prepares to do battle with Paul in their controversial match-up, Davis has been sent a stern message by legendary female fighter Shields, who believes the three-weight world champion will suffer defeat to one man in particular.
Speaking on Million Dollaz Worth Of Game, Shields didn’t hesitate to back unbeaten American star Shakur Stevenson to defeat Davis, should they go on to face each other over the coming years.
“I think Shakur [Stevenson] beats Gervonta Davis, and I used to think Devin [Haney], I think Devin can outbox Tank but once Tank catch him, it’s gonna be a long night, but the only person I think that can beat him is Shakur.”
Davis has been on a collision course with Stevenson for a number of years, although a showdown between the unbeaten duo is yet to come to fruition.
Stevenson currently holds the WBC world lightweight title, making his most recent defence back in July when he defeated Mexico’s William Zepeda at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York on July 12.
