An unbeaten middleweight believes the impending showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will end with an emphatic knockout.
The highly anticipated ‘super-fight’ between the pound-for-pound greats has captured the attention of boxing fans around the world, with many of the sport’s top fighters having differing opinions when it comes to the bout.
Crawford is the underdog heading into the bout but he is looking to pull off the upset and become the first male fighter in the sport’s history to win an undisputed championship in three weight classes, having previously accomplished it at 140lbs and 147lbs.
Mexican superstar Canelo has dominated the super-middleweight division since he made the move up from middleweight back in 2018, reigning as the undisputed champion on two separate occasions during this time and never tasting defeat at 168lbs.
One fighter that has been around Canelo during the lead-up is unbeaten Cuban prospect Yoenli Hernandez, who was brought in as a sparring partner for the four-weight world champion alongside Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.
Speaking to MillCity Boxing, Hernandez made no mistake in predicting a stoppage victory for Canelo, as he backs the 35-year-old from Guadalajara to stop Crawford by the eighth round.
“My prediction in this one, I only give it an eighth round.”
Canelo will have his sights set on putting on an impressive display against ‘Bud’ this weekend after he received criticism following his clash with William Scull back in May.
The Mexican great defeated Scull via unanimous decision to capture the undisputed crown at 168lbs for the second time in his career, although it has been argued that the 35-year-old looked past his best and that he will need to be much improved against Crawford.
