Steve Collins became the first man to defeat Chris Eubank Sr when they fought 30-years ago.

Collins, who was best known as ‘The Celtic Warrior’, clashed with Eubank Sr twice in the space of six months back in 1995, outpointing the British legend on both occasions to keep a hold of his WBO super middleweight title.

The Irish legend lost only three times during his tenure, although he never actually tasted defeat in any of his world title contests. Collins also got the better of Nigel Benn on two occasions, stopping ‘The Dark Destroyer’ twice in the space of four months at the back end of 1996.

With experience in facing, and defeating, both Eubank Sr and Benn; Collins has had his say on the upcoming showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, who are set to clash in a highly anticipated domestic battle on April 26.

Speaking to talkSPORT, ‘The Celtic Warrior’ gave an honest prediction of the upcoming fight between Eubank Jr and Benn, as he admits he is struggling to pick a definitive winner.

“I don’t know who’s going to win this. I genuinely cannot pick a winner. I can, you know, pick reasons why I think either guy can win. I’m really looking forward to it because it’s a good match, and I really can’t pick a winner. Both guys are capable of beating each other.”

The iconic rivalry between the Eubank and Benn families has been reignited once more, with many claiming the April showdown is one of the biggest in the history of British boxing. Benn is tasked with moving up to middleweight, having campaigned at welterweight for the majority of his rollercoaster professional career.
