Shakur Stevenson Now Completely Rules Out Chasing One Man: “I’m Officially Moving On”

Shakur Stevenson has seemingly ruled out ever sharing the ring with one fighter in particular.

Stevenson is the reigning WBC lightweight champion, making the latest defence of his belt when he defeated William Zepeda by unanimous decision at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York in July.

The three-weight world champion now looks set to attempt to claim world honours in another division when he steps up to 140lbs to challenge WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, with that bout expected to be confirmed soon.

There is another fight that boxing fans have been keen to see Stevenson involved in though, and that is against domestic rival and current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.

The pair have been linked to a clash with one another for a number of years, but after a recent exchange on social media between the duo, it unfortunately seems like it won’t be happening.

In one post, Stevenson said the following:

“That’s how I know [you’re] soft, I can’t even go back and forth with your soft ass.. You rather pop to me on social media then get in that fire and get embarrassed, I get it.”

The three-weight world champion then confirmed he would no longer look to secure the bout.

“For future reference, don’t ask me about that lil girl no more. This go for all reporters and interviewers, I don’t want to hear that s**t no more. She told y’all she will never fight me so I’m officially moving on.”

He then finished the exchange with a definitive message.

“CHAPTER CLOSED .. Teo let’s make boxing great again gang.”

While Stevenson’s attention appears to be fully on his expected bout with Lopez, Davis has a bout of his own to prepare for, as he goes up against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a controversial exhibition contest at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday 14 November.
