Shakur Stevenson Confirms The Fight All Fans Want To See: “I’m Cooking Him Next”

Unbeaten three-weight world champion Shakur Stevenson appears to have confirmed his next fight as he vows to ‘cook’ his future rival.

The 28-year-old from Newark, who currently holds the WBC world lightweight title, was last in action back in July when he defeated Mexico’s William Zepeda via unanimous decision to defend his crown for the third time.

Stevenson had been holding out for a showdown with countryman and long-term rival Gervonta Davis earlier this year, but he will have to wait even longer after ‘Tank’ found himself in legal trouble once again.

Instead, the Newark-native looks to have secured a clash with reigning WBO world super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, with reports suggesting that the American duo will lock horns in the first quarter of 2026.

Speaking on social media recently, Stevenson all but confirmed that his intriguing match-up with Lopez will be happening next, as he vows to ‘cook’ the two-weight world champion.

“I’m cooking him next, Tell him prove that sh*t to the world he been saying.”

Whilst there is yet to be an official announcement made, Stevenson and Lopez have both reportedly agreed terms to face each other at an unconfirmed venue in late January.

Lopez has held the WBO world title at 140lbs since he defeated former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor in June of 2023.

‘The Takeover’ has made several successful defences of his crown since then, with his most recent coming against mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr, who he defeated via unanimous decision at Times Square in New York in May.
