Shakur Stevenson is set to be back in the ring in early 2025.

He was scheduled to defend his WBC lightweight title against Joe Cordina on the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol card in October, before a hand injury forced him out of the bout and required surgery.

There is a number of opponents available for Stevenson upon his return, including a potential unification with WBA champion Gervonta Davis, and a clash with mandatory challenger William Zepeda.

If those fights don’t come to fruition, there is another option for Shakur, and that is undefeated prospect Floyd ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield.

Schofield extended his record to 18-0 when he was victorious on Saturday with a unanimous decision win over Rene Tellez Giron, having to recover from an 11th round knockdown.

Stevenson and Schofield have previously sparred one another, with differing stories on how it unfolded, and Shakur told his rival during an episode of Cigar Talk that he wants to beat him in the ring.

“I’m going to beat the sh*t out of him. His dad can’t fight for him. You talk for him but you can’t fight for him. It’s me and him in the ring. That’s it.”

Shakur then laughed off claims from Schofield that he would beat him inside the distance.

“Stop me? You don’t even punch hard. How are you going to stop me?”

A fight against Schofield could happen in 2025, but fans will be more desperate to see the showdown with Davis, and ‘Tank’ has previously told Stevenson who he must defeat in order to earn the right to face him.
