Shakur Stevenson has targeted one man in particular for his next fight.
Stevenson was expected to return to the ring in early 2025 to make a defence of his WBC lightweight title against mandatory challenger William Zepeda.
Those plans appear to have changed after it was revealed that Zepeda suffered an injury during his victory over Tevin Farmer in November, meaning Shakur is likely to face someone else in the interim.
It appears that a showdown with unbeaten talent Floyd ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield could be next, after Stevenson made his intentions perfectly clear on social media.
“Come on I’m down Feb 22 let’s do it. Tell Oscar let’s get it done. Is Oscar gonna let you fight me or [is] he gonna bluff me like he did with your stablemate?? Oscar De La Hoya, reach out to Turki [Alalshikh let’s get this going.
“Don’t social media bluff either lil motherf***er, come see if you can swim with the sharks!!!”
Stevenson and Schofield have had heated back and forths in the past due to differing views on how their sparring sessions went, with Schofield’s father previously claiming that his son ‘dominated’ the WBC world champion.
Stevenson’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has since confirmed to Boxing News that ‘a massive offer’ has been made for the fight and that, if accepted, an announcement could be made as early as this week.
