Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis are reportedly set to face off later this year.
Both fighters have revealed in recent weeks that a fight could take place before the end of the year, and leading promoter Eddie Hearn has said he ‘knows’ the contest will take place in November.
“He’s fighting Jake Paul isn’t he.
I dunno whether he’ll still fight Lamont Roach, I know he’s fighting Jake Paul in November, and then maybe [Shakur] Stevenson after that.”
Paul is just weeks away from making his return to the ring against former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, who he clashes with at the Honda Center in Anaheim on June 28.
WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis is gearing up to face Lamont Roach Jr in their highly anticipated rematch, which is expected to be confirmed for August. The 30-year-old from Baltimore fought to a controversial split decision draw against Roach on March 1.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson was asked to give his opinion on a potential match-up between his countrymen, as he brandishes Davis as ‘disrespectful’ in a shock claim.
“Man Tank [is] disrespectful to the sport, if he chooses [Jake Paul] over fighting with me.
I’m the best fighter in the sport, I’ve been telling them that. He called cap on it so if he wanna call cap and say I’m not who I say I am, come prove it brother.”
Stevenson and ‘Tank’ have been on a collision course for a number of years, with fans and pundits alike asking for a bout between the lightweight stars to be made at the earliest opportunity, in what would be one of the biggest fights that the sport currently has to offer.
