Manny Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring on Saturday night.
The 46-year-old eight division world champion fought to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After four years out of the ring, there had been concerns that Pacquiao would struggle to match the pace and output set by the younger champion, but the Filipino icon proved his doubters wrong and looked very impressive on the night.
As the boxing world reacts to Pacquiao’s performance against ‘El Azteca’ with what many feel was a controversial decision that should have gone in favour of the 46-year-old, reigning WBC world lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has spoken out and shared his verdict.
Speaking on his social media, Stevenson gave an instant reaction to the controversial decision, which he claims was ‘crazy’, believing Pacquiao should have got his hand raise.
“Decision was crazy.”
Just moments before the scorecards were read out, the unbeaten American claimed that Floyd Mayweather Jr would be a world champion next, hinting that he believed Pacquiao had done enough to be declared the winner and that ‘Money’ would once against beat his former rival in a rematch.
“Floyd bout to be world champ next.”
‘PacMan’ has already confirmed that he intends to fight on following his showdown with Barrios, but it remains to be seen whether the 46-year-old will go on to face ‘El Azteca’ in a rematch next.
Another option for Pacquiao could be a potential second encounter with Mayweather, an entire decade on from their monumental clash. ‘Money’ has not fought as a professional since August of 2017 when he defeated MMA legend Conor McGregor, before going on to announce his retirement shortly after.
