Reigning WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has offered a helping hand to Jake Paul ahead of his upcoming showdown with Gervonta Davis.
‘Tank’ Davis is set to face ‘The Problem Child’ in a ten round exhibition clash on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, the latest high-profile boxing event to be shown live on Netflix around the world.
The fight itself will have a maximum weight limit of 195lbs in place for both Davis and Paul, who will also be required to wear 12oz gloves on fight night.
Their controversial match-up has captured the attention of a number of the sports most prominent figures, including three-weight world champion Stevenson, who has actually been targeting a clash with ‘Tank’ for a number of years.
It was reported earlier this week that Paul has drafted in Stevenson as a sparring partner to help him prepare for his clash with Davis, a decision that will undoubtedly ruffle some feathers.
Speaking on social media, Stevenson shared details of exactly why he has agreed to enter Paul’s camp ahead of his bout with a potential future rival of his.
“Fire, Get a chance to pick a great business mind brain and help give some game in the process I’m down”
Stevenson made his most recent ring appearance back in July when he defeated William Zepeda via unanimous decision in New York City, making the third successful defence of his WBC lightweight title in the process.
The 28-year-old is expected to return to the ring during the early stages of next year, as reports suggest he could clash with reigning WBO world super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez next.
