Pound-for-pound star Shakur Stevenson has revealed the exact moment he knew he would be victorious over Teofimo Lopez.

Stevenson put on a masterclass against Lopez at Madison Square Garden in New York last weekend to capture the WBO super-lightweight title and become the fastest four-weight world champion in boxing history.

Lopez was barely able to land a punch on his countryman all night and ultimately fell short in what was undoubtedly the toughest test of his professional career to date, with the three judges scoring it 119-109 in favour of Stevenson.

Stevenson has received a great deal of praise from fans and analysts around the world, with many already considering the unbeaten 28-year-old from Newark to be a future all-time-great.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Stevenson revealed that he knew from the second round of his clash with Lopez that he was going to defeat his countryman and etch his name into boxing history.

“I knew since the second round it was over. I went back to my corner, I told them, I said “I’m stronger than he is” and when I seen that, it just gave me more confidence and it was my night.”

Stevenson is already eyeing up his return to the ring and is expected to be back in action at some stage during the summer. The 28-year-old is reportedly interested in a potential clash with Britain’s Conor Benn, who sensationally called out the American star just moments after he was declared the winner over Lopez on Saturday night.
