WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has shared his final verdict on the upcoming clash between Brian Norman Jr and Devin Haney.
Norman is set to make the third defence of his WBO welterweight title against countryman Haney at the ANB Arena in Riyadh on Saturday night.
Haney is bidding to become a world champion in a third weight class, having previously held the undisputed lightweight championship and the WBC super-lightweight title.
As for Norman, the 24-year-old from Georgia has emerged as one of the most exciting welterweights over the last 18 months. He remains unbeaten in 30 bouts since making his professional debut with 22 of these victories coming inside the distance.
In a social media post, unbeaten star Stevenson revealed that he was picking Haney to prevail against the hard-hitting Norman on Saturday night.
‘The Dream’ will have his sights set on putting on an impressive performance against Norman after he received criticism following his most recent victory over former unified super-lightweight champion Jose Ramirez.
Defeating Norman will not be an easy task for Haney however after his last three wins ended via stoppage. The 24-year-old was last in action during the summer when he produced a destructive third round stoppage victory of Jin Sasaki at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
The intriguing match-up is one of four world title fights featured on the ‘Ring IV’ card in Riyadh on Saturday night, which includes David Benavidez making the first defence of his WBC light-heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde, whilst Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez looks to unify the WBC, WBA and IBF super-flyweight titles.
