A rematch between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr has reportedly been finalised.

It comes after the lightweight stars fought to a controversial majority decision draw back in March, which saw ‘Tank’ Davis successfully retain his WBA world title at 135lbs.

Perhaps the main talking point of the entertaining world title showdown came during the ninth round when Davis sensationally took a knee after being on the receiving end of a Roach jab, but referee Steve Willis failed to rule this as an official knockdown, sparking outrage from the challenger and his team.

A rematch between the pair has been called for by fans and pundits alike and their wishes appear to have come true, with a second encounter now ‘confirmed’ to take place in August.

One fighter who has been vocal about the highly anticipated second encounter between ‘Tank’ and Roach is reigning WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, who has been on a collision course with Davis for a number of years.

Speaking to FightHype, Stevenson issued a word of warning to ‘Tank’ as he was informed the rematch was all set – ‘it’s dangerous for him.’

“I think it’s dangerous for him to go back in there and fight Lamont, I think Lamont is a hell of a fighter. I can see it going left so he better be on his A game.”

The rematch is set to take place on Saturday August 16 in Las Vegas. Both fighters will have their sights set on proving the doubters wrong and righting their wrongs from the first showdown.
