Emanuel Steward Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Manny Pacquiao Would Beat Hearns, Leonard Or Duran

Legendary trainer Emanuel Steward has summed up Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao‘s chances against the iconic ‘Four Kings’ of boxing.

‘The Four Kings’ was made up of Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas ‘The Hitman’ Hearns and Marvelous Marvin Hagler, a legendary quarter of fighters that took the sport by storm during the 1980s.

They provided boxing fans with a number of memorable encounters throughout the course of that golden era, facing each other on at least one occasion each before the end of their respective professional careers.

Another fighter that is considered to be one of the greatest fighters of all time is Filipino icon Pacquiao, who has won world titles in eight weight classes since making his professional debut way back in 1995.

In a resurfaced interview, legendary coach Steward shared his thoughts on how he believes Pacquiao would have fared against ‘The Four Kings’, as he claims the Filipino star would have had his ‘hands full’ in showdowns with the legendary quartet.

“Well when you go back to Duran, Hearns, or Leonard, I could just stop right there. I mean Mayweather or Pacquiao, they would have their hands full. I just can’t see Manny or Floyd beating those fighters.”

Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring back in July after taking a four year hiatus, fighting to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.

The 46-year-old looks set to return to the ring once again in January, with reports suggesting that he could face WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero in a bid to break his own record as the oldest world welterweight champion of all time.
