Gervonta Davis does not buy that Terence Crawford is facing Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez for his legacy.

The two four-weight world champions are set to face off later this year in Las Vegas, with Crawford moving up two weight classes from his last outing for the challenge.

Canelo is undefeated in the super middleweight ranks, has rarely been hurt and never been down. For those reasons, as well as his general skill level, many feel the gap is too big to bridge for even the elite ‘Bud’ Crawford.

The American has said it will be a legacy-defining fight and victory will make him one of the best three fighters of all time. Of course, there is a lot of money on the table, too – something ‘Tank’ Davis believes is the real motivation.

Speaking to the media before his controversial draw against Lamont Roach Jr, the big puncher from Baltimore said his countryman ‘needs’ the money.

“Crawford needs the money. I’m telling you … That’s why he says he don’t like me, cause I speak real s**t.”

Asked if Crawford has what it takes to beat the bigger man, ‘Tank’ seemed to think no, however did praise Crawford and say that the weight difference may not be as big a factor as many think.

“I ain’t trying to convince y’all that he can beat Canelo! He’s a good fighter, but… Bro, I would say smaller fighters are always better than bigger fighters cause they know how to move and things like that.”

First up for Alvarez is a unification bout with William Scull. A win will make him two-time undisputed in the super middleweight ranks and add extra motivation for Crawford come September.
