Terence Crawford has reportedly reached a deal to challenge Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez and his unified super-middleweight world titles.

The American will move up two divisions from his last fight – a world title winning debut at super-welterweight – for the pleasure. Though many in the sport feel packing on 14 pounds and facing Canelo, who has never been beaten at super-middleweight, is too tall of a task, Crawford is adamant that he can define his legacy with a win.

The fight is expected to land in Las Vegas, though production will be helmed by Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh either through Riyadh Season or the Ring Magazine, and in September, with both men potentially taking an interim fight in May.

Speaking to FightHype, a member of Crawford’s team, Bernie The Boxer, revealed that the date agreed is September 13. It is in line with Canelo’s events, which take place on Mexican Independence Day Weekend. In 2025, the day falls on Tuesday the 16th.

“It’s on, baby. September 13, baby. Look forward to it. Crawford versus Canelo. And this is how I said it, Crawford versus Canelo, you understand? Yeah, it’s confirmed. Crawford versus Canelo, not the other way around. Team Crawford, stand up. Pound for pound the best in the world, soon to be the super-middleweight champ of the world.”

The interview follows positive reports that the fight had been agreed. Both men recently met with Alalshikh in London, and official announcements are expected soon as to how the year will play out for them.
