Boxing is a fast-paced world where today’s challenger can become tomorrow’s star just as quickly as a revered great can take a loss and fall down the rankings.

Right now, there are several high profile world champions who could all claim to be the biggest draws in the sport. They included the likes of two-weight undisputed kings Oleksandr Uysk, Naoya Inoue and Terence Crawford, as well as Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez who three of four major super-middleweight titles and prolific knockout artist Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

However, former trainer turned pundit Teddy Atlas says one man is ready to challenge these names for top spot. In a recent message on social media, he instead claimed that it is welterweight title holder Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis who is set to become boxing’s next big thing and that he just needs a breakout fight to confirm it.

“The next Star of this sport. Just needs what they all do, a signature fight.”

That fight could well be against Crawford, the former undisputed welterweight king who recently moved up to 154 lbs to become a world champion in a fourth division at the first time of asking. Right now, Ennis’s record sits at 29 knockout wins from 32 fights with no defeats and last time out he stopped former Crawford opponent David Avanesyan in round five.

Boots has since said he would be willing to move up in weight to fight Crawford, though ‘Bud’ says is looking upwards and chasing a potential fight with ‘Canelo.’
