Former trainer turned analyst Teddy Atlas has weighed in on the upcoming fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

This contest has been a long time in the making, dating all the way back to October 2022. It was then that the pair were first scheduled to clash, despite worries from many onlookers including his father that Eubank Jr was losing an unhealthy amount of weight to make the contest.

However, it was revealed just days before the first bell that Benn had tested positive for a banned substance, so the fight was canned and he spent the next two years protesting his innocence and appealing a provisional suspension on UK soil.

The 28-year-old was freed to fight on the shores late last year and soon rearranged the grudge match with Eubank, though this time he will be coming up two weights to meet the bigger man at 160 pounds.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Atlas broke down the contest and sees it pretty evenly.

“It’s a banger, people can’t wait to see that. It’s got the animosity, the bad blood and the history with the fathers who were iconic British fighters.

“You’ve got one guy, Eubank, who wants to keep it on the outside as much as he can, use his skill sets and hand speed and ability to throw counterpunches from different angles.

“He needs space and I would like to think that Benn would like to take that away, work his way in, go to the body, take the legs away, slow him down a bit, put the pressure on him, get to him. It should be an interesting fight.

“I like parts of both guys, I like Eubank when his focus is there to do things on the outside and I love Benn’s style, being aggressive in a responsible way, doing it with defence, the proper way to engage somebody.”

The build up has been controversial already with Eubank breaking an egg in Benn’s facing and taking a fine for his troubles. The fight takes place on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium in London.
