Legendary trainer-turned-analyst Teddy Atlas has summed up Gervonta Davis‘ chances of securing a knockout victory over Jake Paul next month.
The reigning WBA lightweight champion is set to face ‘The Problem Child’ in a scheduled ten round exhibition contest on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, with the event broadcast live on Netflix.
Their controversial match-up has captured the attention of boxing fans and analysts around the world, with many expressing their frustration towards Davis stepping into the ring with the former YouTube star instead of one of his lightweight rivals.
It was announced at a press conference last month that there would be a maximum weight limit of 195lbs in place for both fighters, who will also be expected to enter the ring wearing 12oz gloves on fight night.
Speaking on his YouTube channel THE FIGHT, Atlas claimed that whilst there is such a significant size difference between ‘Tank’ and Paul, he says the hard-hitting lightweight star has what it takes to hurt ‘The Problem Child’ out if he hits him ‘on the chin’.
“All kidding aside, if he [Davis] hits him on the chin the way he can punch, Jake might be doing a dance, you know what I mean? Not voluntarily either.”
Davis, who remains unbeaten in 31 bouts since making his professional debut, has racked up 28 knockout victories during his career to date. The 30-year-old from Baltimore’s last stoppage victory came in June 2024 when he stopped countryman Frank Martin in the eighth round of their Las Vegas showdown.
