Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are just hours away from their monumental trilogy showdown.
They are set to lock horns for what is expected to be the third and final time tonight at the iconic Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City.
Irish icon Taylor was successful in the first two encounters with Serrano, although both fights were extremely close and could have quite easily gone in favour of the 36-year-old seven-division world champion from Puerto Rico.
Their first bout, which took place in April of 2022, saw Taylor pick up a split decision victory over Serrano to successfully defend her undisputed lightweight championship for the sixth time.
They rematched in Texas last November and after yet another closely fought ten rounds, Taylor defeated Serrano once again to retain her undisputed championship at super-lightweight, which will be on the line once again on Friday night.
Speaking on his Youtube channel THE FIGHT, legendary trainer Teddy Atlas shared his thoughts on the upcoming trilogy between Taylor and Serrano, as he wonders which of the two will have ‘more left’ come fight night.
“Who’s got more left? I don’t know that I know. Who’s got more left? Does Serrano? I think there’s a chance maybe Serrano has a little more even though I picked Taylor twice.
“I’m not going against her, I am not gonna go against her now, I was routing for the first two I’ll do it again, but whoever has more left has got the better chance to win this fight because it’s gonna be the same tactics, it’s gonna be the same skill levels, and it’s gonna be the same character.”
Victory for Taylor could cement her place as being the greatest female fighter of all time, although the 39-year-old from Bray faces yet another immense challenge against someone she is all too familiar with.
