Teddy Atlas Predicts Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Rematch: “I Can’t Go Against Her”

This Friday, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano renew their rivalry on the undercard of Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul.

Both of these legendary women are going for greatness for a second time having already met once back at Madison Square Garden in New York in April 2022.

The thrilling contest saw undisputed lightweight ruler Taylor and seven-division world champion Serrano battle it out for 10 close rounds. It was Taylor who won a split decision with scores of 94-96, 97-93 and 96-93.

Although there were calls for an immediate rematch, Serrano pulled out late in the day and instead, Chantelle Cameron called out Taylor for an undisputed fight at her weight of 140 lbs and won the contest in Dublin, only to lose the rematch six months later.

In the meantime, Serrano has made three title defences as a featherweight and now steps into the ring with the Irish star once more this weekend.

Ahead of that, former trainer turned pundit Teddy Atlas has made his prediction and is backing Taylor to get her hand raised.

“Who’s got more left? They both left a piece of themselves in the ring. Taylor is getting up there in years, Serrano too, but especially in her last fights [Taylor’s] been in a lot of tough fights. It was tremendously tough against Serrano. I don’t know what’s physically left but their character is always left. It’s a very tough fight for both.

I think it’s going to go rounds, they have too much character, experience, ability, too much heart not to go the distance. I think Serrano may be fresher, that would lean me towards Serrano, but at the end of the day I’m taking Taylor. Her pedigree. My heart, my boxing background, tells me you can’t go against a champion who has been a champion the way Taylor has.”

The main event sees heavyweight legend Tyson return to the ring for his first professional fight in almost 20 years against Jake Paul, a man less than half his age but with decades less experience.
