WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has had his final say on the much anticipated showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
Both fighters tipped the scales at 167.5lbs when they weighed in before facing off for the final time in front of a huge crowd.
‘Bud’ Crawford looks to be in incredible shape ahead of his first ever appearance at super-middleweight, making the move up in two weight divisions since he fought former WBA super-welterweight champion Israil Madrimov last year. There were no surprises from Canelo, who has made the 168 limit comfortably for seven years now.
Speaking to Fight Hype, Lopez said he is backing ‘Bud’ to get the job done tonight.
“Yeah I got Crawford man, still got Crawford but it should be a great fight, both guys came in at the exact same weight so both are ready, prepped, may the best man win.”
Many are in the same camp, switching up their pick after seeing how well Crawford has put on the extra weight, managing to maintain a lean figure and hopefully his speed and reflexes.
History beckons for the 37-year-old from Omaha as a victory would see him become an undisputed champion in a third weight class, the first fighter in the modern era to accomplish this feat.
