Teofimo Lopez is in hot pursuit of a fight with Terence Crawford and the pound-for-pound star is willing to oblige under one condition.
Responding to the relentless call outs from ‘Teo’, Crawford told him to fight the Uzbek as a challenge. Should he win, he will land the match-up he wants.
“You fight and beat Israil Madrimov next, I’ll whoop your ass next, bet? Now let’s see how much you wanna fight.”
The demand came after a back and forth on social media in which Crawford had mocked Lopez’ promotional circumstances, saying that he was in a ‘f***ed up situation with Top Rank.’
Lopez, ignoring the Madrimov condition, responded mainly about that but remained confident that the fight will happen regardless of the hoops Crawford may want him to jump through.
“Terence Crawford you sued Top Rank for your reason. I am not burning the bridge. However, I am working it to my benefit. Say what you want. However, you were once in my position. Don’t forget where you come from, old head! Eventually, we will fight! I’m not worried.”
Neither man currently has an upcoming fight announced. Lopez seems a while away from that, whilst Crawford still chases a bout with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Failing that, he is currently in ordered talks for a unification with Sebastian Fundora.
