Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are set to clash in an all-British grudge match on April 26 in London.
It comes after their first bout that was due to take place in October 2022 was cancelled when it was revealed Benn had tested positive for a banned substance. The 28-year-old subsequently entered a legal battle with the British Boxing Board of Control, fighting twice in the US in the interim, and any suspension was lifted late last year as he was cleared to fight on home soil.
Following renegotiations, it was confirmed this week that the highly anticipated showdown has been rescheduled for April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The fight will take place at the middleweight limit of 160lbs – three more than the previous catchweight of 157 – and there will be a 10lbs rehydration clause on the day of the fight.
Reigning WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has spoken out and had his say on the bout, which comes after months of intense rumours and speculation.
Speaking to Morson Sport, Lopez made no mistake in picking Eubank Jr to prevail as he fires back at Benn for talking about him to the media in recent months.
“If you wanna talk that s**t then I’m gonna talk it back and I’m gonna say Chris Eubank, I think he’s more seasoned.”
Fireworks are expected when the bitter rivals finally lock horns in April, reigniting a feud between the two families which dates back over 30-years. The fathers of both fighters, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Jr, were once locked in to a bitter feud which culminated in them facing each other twice during the 1990s.
